Säpo was interested in the coup against the exchange office in Stockholm

The police were alerted on the evening of March 20 about a break-in at an exchange office in Vasastan in Stockholm.

According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, several million kroner had disappeared. The safe in which the cash is said to have been kept was not broken into.

The police therefore suspect that it may be an inside job where the multi-million thieves come across the key to the cabinet, according to the same information.

Tasks: Counter-terrorism

Three people have previously been arrested and detained on suspicion of grand theft but have been released.

According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the Security Police, Säpo, has taken an interest in the case in terror-related matters. The police at national level must also have received information about the case.

– From the Security Police’s side, we can completely refer to the police in this matter. In general, we have a close cooperation with the police, says Gabriel Wernstedt, press secretary at Säpo.

“We are investigating in all directions”

The prosecutor does not want to comment on the information but says the police investigation is still ongoing.

– We continue to investigate and we investigate broadly, but I cannot go into any concrete investigative measures that we are taking at the moment. We investigate in all directions and consider all possible scenarios, says prosecutor Daniela Demirtas.

Even the Stockholm police are tight-lipped. When asked if Säpo had been made aware of the case, the police investigator and case manager Carl Wassén replied:

– I am not confirming anything about it, but it is pre-trial confidentiality. We are working on and investigating widely according to our routines.
