Säpo has repelled Iranian attacks

On Tuesday, Ekot revealed that an Iranian couple allegedly planned the murder of Jews in Sweden. The couple was arrested in 2021 and deported the following year.

Now the radio states that Säpo has in several cases stopped preparations for what could have been Iranian attacks in Sweden.

– We have worked on a number of such cases where we have, as we judge it, ruled out preparations for such, says Daniel Stenling, head of the Security Police’s counter-espionage, to the radio.

– Man (Iran, editor’s note) has prepared and conducted activities aimed at being able to carry out a so-called physical attack against someone or something in Sweden.

Iranian operations are ongoing

Iran is usually singled out as one of the countries that pose the greatest intelligence threat to Sweden.

Iranian operations are taking place in Sweden right now, according to Stenling.

– Yes. But I can’t go into detail about what it’s about, because then I’d reveal what we’re doing.
