The medal is also Kiiveri’s first paralympic medal of his career. The victory was taken by France’s Arthur Bauchet.

Santeri Kiiveri, 21, dropped paralympic silver for Finland from the Beijing Paralympic Super Alpine Combined Men’s Standing Class. In a superalpine combined, the super g section is calculated first and the slalom section second.

Kiiveri grabbed the first Paralympic medal in history in Finland in a handsome way. The young skier made an accurate mark right from the start, leaving many pre-favorites behind. However, Paralympic gold was grabbed by the absolute number one in France Arthur Bauchet. The bronze was taken over by New Zealand Adam Hall.

The helmet dropped great soles in the super g section for the slalom section of the race, dropping second behind the French Bauchet. Bauchet dropped the base time of the race to 1.10.88, of which Kiiveri was only 2.07 seconds behind with a good landing.

In the slalom, the Finn was 2.15 seconds behind the winner.

– I said in an interview yesterday that today we are celebrating, so self-confidence was high. The morning was a really good success, even though I initially thought and said it wasn’t the best. It is a feeling of happiness, now we have got what we have started to get, Kiiveri thought in his medal interview with Sport.

The helmet found the slalom track surprisingly challenging. At the same time, he regretted the wear of the track, as all the different classes and both men and women descended the same slope. However, in the moods of the medal, he was not left to lament the slope too much.

– The change of skis didn’t go very well, I imagined that it was in him once he pulls. The warm Baana was then in a rather poor condition and the descent was pretty salty. Here we just have to thank my father in that maintenance booth for getting the equipment in order and on top of the last one, the Paralympic medalist thanked his father as a ski guardian Olli Kiiveriä.

The medal is also Kiiver’s first Paralympic career. He was already involved in the 2018 Games.

Silver was Finland’s second Paralympic medal on Monday. Matti Suur-Hamari fell earlier on Monday morning to snowboard cross paralympic gold.
