Every year, children impatiently await their video call to Santa Claus. But hearing-impaired children were deprived of this beautiful encounter for a long time. To also allow deaf children to live this magical experience, Santa Claus learned sign language.
As Christmas approaches, children contact Santa Claus, by writing him a letter, submitting their gift list, by calling him, and for several years, by organizing a unique video meeting! But some children have until now been deprived of this magical moment. Indeed, hearing-impaired children could not participate in this call with the man with the white beard himself. To address this problem and include all children, Operation “Santa Claus is Deaf” offers them this opportunity. In 2022, nearly 200 deaf children were also able to interact with Santa Claus.
How it works ?
This completely free service, launched by the company Deafi, an expert in customer relations adapted to deaf and hard of hearing people, invites children and their parents to connect by video via the site www.perenoelsourd.fr, from November 20 to December 20. For a month, several employees, mostly deaf and speaking French Sign Language, will swap their customer advisor costume to put on the red outfit of Father or Mother Christmas. To participate, there is no need to reserve your slot. The children will wait in line with stories and songs in chansignes, until deaf Santa Claus is available to chat with them. Here are the available slots:
- Monday 20/11 – 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
- Friday 11/24 – 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
- Wednesday 11/29 – 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
- Thursday 07/12 – 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
- Tuesday 12/12 – 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
- Wednesday 20/12 – 2 p.m.-5 p.m.
Little extra: a link sent by email at the end of the conversation will allow children to relive this unique moment by watching the video recorded with Santa Claus. A joyful and inclusive initiative, to share the magic of Christmas with all children.
