Ice hockey player Sanni Hakala exactly one year has passed since the injury that ended his playing career this week. Hakala, who played in the Swedish league in the shirt of HV71, talks about his latest news in a post published on the club’s website on video.
According to him, the rehabilitation has gone well and everything has gone as it should.
– The year hasn’t been the easiest, but I’m going one day at a time and trying to stay positive, says the Finn.
Hakala was paralyzed from the chest down when she crashed into the goal post during a match between Djurgården and HV71. He does not want to talk about the day of the accident in the video.
Hakala is happy to be able to be at home and with the team in Jönköping after a long period in the hospital and rehabilitation center. However, he reminds us that it takes years to recover from an injury.
Currently, he goes to the hospital twice a week for rehabilitation.
– I try to be with the team a lot. I go to the gym with them to do extra rehabilitation exercises.
According to Hakala, the support of his teammates means a lot to him. In return, Hakala tries to support the team as much as possible.
– They may not even realize how much they help me every day when I come here. It’s amazing how well they’ve accepted me back into the team.
Hakala says that she still loves hockey and watching it.
His future dreams are also related to ice hockey.
