Sandra Näslund’s super streak has broken – after an incredible 19 straight victories at the World Cup

For the first time in almost two years, Sandra Näslund finished outside the podium in a World Cup competition in ski cross.
The 27-year-old Olympic champion was fourth and last in the final in Val Thorens.

Sandra Näslund started the world cup season in the best possible way when Kramforsåkaren won Thursday’s premiere in Val Thorens. The 27-year-old’s 19th straight victory and her overall 38th individually in the World Cup.

The following day, the reigning Olympic champion had a harder time. Despite a fast start and early lead in the final, the Swedish star was left out and it looked like the competitors had a better glide under their skis on the twisty course in the French Alps.

Näslund was overtaken by all three competitors and finished fourth and last in the final. Her first podium miss since December 14, 2021, when she was fourth in Arosa. Näslund missed some competitions last season due to injury.

Daniel MaierGermany, won the final before Brittany PhelanCanada, and Marielle Berger SabbatelFrance.

David Mobärg finished second in the men’s final, after a washing-up drama. The Swede was lifted one position because the Frenchman Youri Duplessis Kergomardwho was first over the finish line, was warned after a situation with Johannes Rohrweck, Austria, who fell and did not complete the final. Duplessis Kergomard was stripped of the victory which instead went to Jared SchmidtCanada.

On Monday, the ski cross world cup continues with competitions in Arosa.
