Catching the lizard was therefore only possible between mid-April and early June. The motto was to mow. The sand lizard does not want to stand out too much and does not like bare plains, but they were created. A kilometer-long screen was placed around it to keep the sand lizard out of the work area. “It’s just a low tarpaulin, but the lizard has no grip on it. So what has fled the area cannot go back,” explains ecologist Tom van den Hove of Ekoza at ProRail.
