SANA announced Bashar Assad decided on partial amnesty

The Syrian government’s news agency SANA reported that the decree on the issue “forecasts an amnesty for the sentences to be given to deserters inside and outside the country, those in hiding and those who flee justice.”

THOSE CRIMES WERE EXCLUDED FROM THE AMNESTY

It was stated that “misdemeanors that constitute a violent attack on society and the state”, bribery, some forgery crimes, acts against public morality and some thefts are excluded from the amnesty.

However, it was noteworthy that the crimes included in the phrase “violences that constitute a violent attack on society and the state” were not clearly stated.

“THE AMNESTY DECISION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE MILITARY AND POLITICAL OPPOSITION”

Speaking to AA regarding the amnesty decision, Syrian Interim Government President Abdurrahman Mustafa said that through this decree, the Syrian government is trying to show the international community that it is in favor of national reconciliation and easing sanctions.

“The amnesty decision does not include the military and political opposition,” said Mustafa, adding that the decision does not include soldiers who left the army with their weapons.
