Over the past decade, a real public and critical enthusiasm has developed around contemporary African art. Cameroonian photographer Samuel Fosso has been a pioneer for 30 years. His different series are part of “historical” modern African art. The gallery owner Christophe Person exhibits until June 17 and for the first time his series “Tati” produced in 1997. Samuel Fosso is one of the biggest names in African photography. Since winning the 1er Prize at the Bamako Biennial in 1994, his self-portraits – which often echo the history of the continent – have toured the world.
They have been exhibited in the most prestigious museums on the planet. However, they are rare on the art market. For the series currently exhibited in Paris, it is even a first.
A series produced in 1997 in Paris, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the famous store ” Tati in the Barbès district. The exhibition of this series of nine large formats by Samuel Fosso is to be discovered at the gallery Christopher Person until June 17.

Reporting : Emma Garboud-Lorenzoni took an interest in the exchange program between European and African theaters initiated by the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris and the Teatro della Pergola in Florence.
