This week, Samsung showed off the new top model Galaxy S25. The mobile has better performance than previous units.
But Samsung’s biggest focus with the new mobile is not on the hardware, but on the software – and more specifically, AI.
The mobile giant has invested heavily in the new technology in recent years. Last fall, for example, Galaxy AI was released in Swedish, a collection of AI functions that can, among other things, summarize texts, transcribe calls and translate content for the mobile user.

Samsung chief: AI is used more than expected
News24 have spoken to Anders ElmbyNordic CEO of Samsung’s Mobility Division, which tells us that the AI functions have so far been appreciated by the users.
– We see how much customers use AI in our products and it has been received very hot. Customers use these features more than expected. Of all the customers we have in the Nordic countries, which have access to Galaxy AI in either the Galaxy S22, S23, S24 or in our new foldable mobile, about 76 percent of our customer base uses use in one way or another.

New AI features in Samsung
With the Galaxy S25 Samsung takes its AI venture to the next step. For example, you should, only with your voice, be able to ask Google’s AI model Gemini to perform different tasks in different apps.
The vision is to go away from Touch-based interaction in the future and switch to a more voice-controlled one.
– It is more natural to interact with the internet via voice now. I think there will be much more voice in the future with AI, says Anders Elmby.

Boring message for some galaxy users
But the question is which new AI functions only come to the Galaxy S25, and which ones also come to previous mobiles such as the Galaxy S22, S23 and S23.
We first find out when the Android 15-based update One UI 7 arrives-and it has now turned out to be later than expected.
Initially, One UI 7 was expected to be released in the same vein as the Galaxy S25, but it has not been.
The Galaxy S25 will certainly have One UI 7 from the beginning, but previous models will have to wait longer for the new update. It may take a few months, but Anders Elmby emphasizes that he does not know with certainty as no date is set yet.
-One UI 7 is released as our Legacy products are released. We do not have an exact date yet, but I would think it will be a couple of months, Anders Elmby tells News24.
