Samsung unveils folding and sliding Flex Hybrid OLED

Samsung Display, Flex Hybrid OLED introduced its latest product. This product is a folding and sliding panel and will be implemented in future smartphones, tablets and laptops. The panel opens from one side and fits into a regular smartphone footprint, providing a large 10.5” screen with a 4:3 ratio and an even larger 12.4” panel with a 16:10 ratio.

The new product and two scrollable panels will be showcased at CES 2023, which kicks off in Las Vegas this week.

Flex Slidable Solo and Flex Slidable Duet projects can be pulled from one (or both) sides to expand the 14” OLED to a 17.3” display. All panels are touch sensitive and will assist smartphone manufacturers in redesigning the mobile phone. These panels are unlikely to reach the final market anytime soon. But I must say that there are promising developments for the future.

Samsung’s presence at CES 2023 will also mark the first phase of the display division’s new QD-OLED panels for TVs and monitors. Expected sizes are 77″, 65″, 55″ and 34″ and 49″ ultra-wide versions.
