The risk of getting hurt and being exposed to malicious apps or software is relatively low, but not non-existent.

News24 has previously reported on several relatively popular Android apps that can attack the user’s banking services.

To be on the safe side, there is a setting in your Samsung that might be useful to activate.

Automatic blocker

The function is called automatic blocker and is found in all Samsung mobiles, even some Mobil.se has written about.

Auto blocker is not enabled by default. To turn it on, navigate to Settings –> Security & Privacy –> Auto Blocker.

This is how the feature works

When you enable auto blocker, an extra layer of security is added to your Samsung.

Here are the three main blockages the feature brings:

  • Apps from unauthorized or unsafe sources cannot be downloaded.
  • Apps you already have installed on your phone are regularly checked for malicious activity.
  • Malicious chargers, computers and other devices cannot send commands to your phone when connected via a USB cable.
