Spectacular 3D sound thanks to 17 speakers
Overall, the set consisting of soundbar, rear speakers and external subwoofer is amazing 17 speakers that harmonize perfectly with each other. 3D sound in home cinema is their flagship discipline and the soundstage is wonderfully wide. The surround sound is realized through the high-quality 3D audio formats Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
The 3D sound is transmitted via the HDMI eARC connection. Another HDMI port offers space for a Blu-ray player, for example, which you can then operate via the soundbar. However, the HDMI socket only transmits 60Hz.
The Samsung HW-Q935 can be controlled via remote control and display. Since the display shows little and is difficult to read, it is recommended to download the Smart Things app from Samsung onto your smartphone. Alternatively, you can also operate the sound bar via voice control.
You play music over it WiFi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay2 or Spotify Connect away. However, music playback is not one of the strengths of the Samsung sound bar – it is simply not made for that.
If you have a Samsung TV, the soundbar can do even more. Your television is easily set up using the Q-Symphony function integrated and acts as a center speaker – an ingenious solution. With certain Samsung televisions you can even use the soundbar without a cable.
The budget alternative from Teufel
If you don’t want to spend so much on a soundbar but still enjoy effective film sound, then the Teufel Cinebar 11 in the 2.1 set with wireless subwoofer is the alternative. In the sale you can get them cheaper than ever for just 279 euros.
The Teufel soundbar set already impressed the testers at Stiftung Warentest and was the test winner there. Using the in-house Dynamore technology, Teufel simulates 3D sound and it works surprisingly well. Of course, you shouldn’t expect real 3D sound like the Samsung soundbar – but you’ll pay less than half as much for the Cinebar 11.
