Samsung renews its range of premium tablets with two fairly classic Galaxy Tab S8 models and a surprising Tab S8 Ultra, which, with its giant screen, could well compete with professional iPad for professional use.

During its large Galaxy Unpacked conference on February 9, Samsung not only revealed its new high -end smartphones, the Galaxy S22, but also three latest generation premium tablets. The classics Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+ succeed the 2020 TAB S7, while the most innovative Galaxy Tab S8, stands out for its huge screen and original functions.

Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra: a solid common base

The three new Samsung tablets share several characteristics. First of all, a powerful processor, the brand new QualScom Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 engraved in 4 Nm that will equip many of the high -end smartphones of 2022, and which its designer also aims to see in ultraportable new generation PCs under Windows. They also all take advantage of very high definition screens which ensure an excellent rendering and great reading comfort thanks to a maximum cooling rate of 120 Hz. All are delivered at least with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space, which is perfectly sufficient for current uses, even with heavy applications.

All work with One UI 4.1, Samsung’s software overlay, which is based on Android 12, the latest version of Google’s OS. All benefit from the 45 W fast load, but they are delivered without charger. Understandable when it comes to fighting the multiplication of electronic accessories that finish in waste, but annoying insofar as it will be necessary to get their hands on the wallet to equip themselves with a high power charger … On the other hand, all are provided standard with a S PEN stylus, very practical in certain applications, whether it is to draw, take notes or use certain functions associated with ONE UI.

On the communication side, the Galaxy Tab S8 Series are Wi-Fi 6e9 compatible-a first at Samsung-which allows you to enjoy a high wireless flow. A real plus for the future, this standard starting to popularize with the new ISP boxes and the new Wi-Fi routers of specialized manufacturers. Note that they are also available in versions with a 5G module, to also benefit from the very high speed of new mobile telephony networks. It is even possible to share content via the secure Galaxy 5G10 network.

For the multimedia part, the three S8s are equipped at the rear of an identical double photo module-a large angle and an ultra-angle respectively associated with sensors of 13 and 6 megapixels-and four stereo stereo speakers compatible Dolby Atmos, made with AKG, a large specialist in microphones and helmets. For video calls, they all have three microphones and a 12 megapixel sensor on the front. The TAB S8 Ultra has a second 12 megapixel sensor linked to an ultra-wide-angle lens, very appreciable when several people are gathered in front of the screen, for a family discussion for example.

Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra: different vocations

With their powerful processor and large screens, the three TAB S8s are more than enough for daily use, whether to surf the web, have fun with games or watch videos. However, they have different vocations. The most “small”, the TAB S8 are satisfied with an 11 -inch LCD screen of the TFT TFTS type of a very comfortable definition of 2560 x 1600 pixels which already makes it very versatile. A little bigger, the TAB S8+ benefits from a 12.4 -inch Super AMOLED screen of a definition of 2800 x 1752 pixels which makes it more suitable for watching videos.

The Tab S8 Ultra, the real star of this new series, goes much further with its 14.6 -inch giant screen, which allows it to compete with a number of laptops. Only the 2015 Galaxy View delights his show on this point with her 18.4 -inch gigantic screen! With its Super Amoled slab at 120 Hz and its definition of 2960 x 1848 pixels (greater than the Full HD but below 4K), the display quality is there, despite a slightly fair resolution of 240 DPI. The weight contained in the case (726 g) and its extreme finesse (5.5 mm) really facilitate handling. It is also equipped with an 11,200 mAh battery which promises a good autonomy.

If it is obviously as comfortable as its small sisters in the field of entertainment, its high price and its size will probably reserve it for users in search of a powerful tool of productivity and creativity. To respond to this type of waiting, this tablet is delivered with an S Pen stylus for taking notes, benefits from the multi-user (up to three positionnable windows in multiple ways) and can even serve as a secondary touch screen, when connected to a PC. With the Samsung Dex environment, it is also possible to go to an Android interface optimized for office mode. Practical to transform your tablet into a computer by connecting it to a keyboard. With the Quick Share function, it is also possible to share files in the blink of an eye between your smartphone and the tablet!
