Samsung is in the process of deploying Android 14 on several Galaxy smartphones and tablets, through One UI 6.0, the new version of its in-house overlay. Here are the models that will benefit from this important update.
Android 14, the new version of Google’s mobile operating system, was released at the beginning of October. And if, as always, Google has given priority to its own smartphones (see our article), other manufacturers have promised to share some of their models, as is the case with each major update of the system. An essential development today, which allows devices to last longer, pushing back the deadline for inevitable obsolescence.
Of course, Samsung, which remains the largest seller of mobile devices in the world, is among the first to make updates to its already released products – most new models should be entitled to Android 14 straight away. And as for other manufacturers, everything happens through the in-house software overlay – One UI at Samsung – which is based on Android with additional functions and a personalized interface. Thus, a few weeks after the start of the One UI 6.0 beta, the new version of the Samsung overlay based on Android 14, the Korean manufacturer finally starts rolling out the stable version of the update on its smartphones in France, starting with the Galaxy S23. However, some older smartphones will not benefit from it this year, having reached the limit of software support offered by the Korean giant. For all smartphones prior to the Galaxy S21 FE, the adventure ends here. Certain tablets in the Galaxy range are also affected.
Last important detail: like all the previous ones, the update to One UI 6.0 is completely free. You just need to have a compatible model to benefit from it.
Which Samsung Galaxy smartphones will benefit from Android 14?
Since 2022, Samsung has supported the vast majority of its devices with four years of OS updates and five years of security patches. For the moment, the Korean giant has not communicated a date for the deployment of One UI 6.0, with the exception of the Galaxy S23 range, which already benefits from it.
