A couple of Galaxy S23 phones were spotted at the FCC a few weeks ago, but the FCC prefers to keep things private. The same cannot be said for TENAA, which has released a fairly complete spec sheet for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The phone measures 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9 mm and weighs 233 grams. As expected, it has the same dimensions as its predecessor, the S22 Ultra. The screen has the same dimensions, 6.8”, with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,088 pixels (19.3:9 aspect ratio). The rated capacity of the battery is 4,855mAh, so the typical capacity should be listed as 5,000mAh as usual.
The phone’s CPU frequency lists three clusters: 3.36 GHz, 2.8 GHz, and 2.0 GHz. This is said to power the Galaxy S23 series globally Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 It overlaps with the SM8550-AC’s higher clock speeds (the GPU is overclocked as well, but TENAA doesn’t list it).
The chipset will be paired with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. Galaxy S22 UltraThere was also a basic 8/128GB version, but that may not come to China.
Speaking of things not coming to China, rumor has it there’s no sign of satellite communications support. Of course this is sold in china iPhone 14It wasn’t available in . Allegedly, this Iridium will use the satellite network and, unlike the Apple system, it will be publicly available (allegedly you will be able to send text messages and even pictures to your friends).
Also not listed are cameras that are supposed to include a new 200MP sensor (1/1.3”, 0.6µm, 12MP default resolution), 3x and 10x telephoto cameras with similar hardware but improved image quality. The main camera will reportedly finally jump to 8K@30fps video (previous models sticked to a cinematic 24fps).
The Samsung Unpacked event will take place in the first week of February, according to insider information the launch is expected a few weeks later, at the end of February.
