Samsung deploys update to its Galaxy smartphones to stop app

Samsung smartphone users who suffer from the performance throttling issue of many apps are going to be happy. As promised, the manufacturer has started the deployment of an update that corrects the problem and gives more control of the application (GOS Game Optimizing Service). So, screenshots of the update were posted on Samsung’s Korean user forum:

Once translated, the following are shown in the update, here for a Galaxy S22 Ultra. It therefore consists of:

  • Release the initial performance limit of the CPU/GPU when running the game (The operation of the control depending on the temperature of the terminal is maintained).
  • Provide “Game Performance Management Mode” in Game Booster.
  • Bypass GOS to unblock external apps.

We will have to see in detail how this update changes the behavior of the GOS app, but it seems that it responds to criticism by disabling the throttlingespecially for non-game apps, and giving the user more control over game performance.

For the moment, only Korean users have reported this update and it is not yet known when it will be available for other countries. Recall that Samsung’s performance limit strategy has resulted in the exclusion of many Galaxy smartphones from the GeekBench performance test results.
