We expected a resounding announcement, it will not take place in the end. Samsung has decided not to make waves around its new OLED technology. After having left the priority of the announcement of a first QD-OLED television to Sony, during CES 2022, the Korean manufacturer was satisfied with a simple update of its American site to formalize its own televisions based on this new panel technology.

Indeed, equipped with a quantum dot OLED panel manufactured by Samsung Display, the S95B will ultimately be the first QD OLED model on the market since it will arrive a few weeks before the Sony Bravia XR A95K which caused a sensation in Las Vegas. Pre-orders have just opened in the United States. As for France, it will probably be necessary to wait until April to have an overview of the prices that will be displayed. Samsung is therefore formalizing its return to the OLED market, ten years after leaving it and despite the many criticisms it has echoed concerning this technology.
Almost reasonable price
Admittedly, Samsung is not content to ship LG panels, it is coming back with a more ambitious technology based on quantum dots. Concretely, the sub-pixels of this OLED panel are all three blue, but two of them can turn green or red when they are excited by the blue light of these same quantum dots. Of course, we can’t wait to submit this panel to the 01net.com lab test, which should happen in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we will have to be content with this official announcement and these two new references in the Korean catalog. Indeed, the S95B will be available in two diagonals of 55 and 65 inches, respectively named QN55S95B and QN65S95B. As for the prices, they are almost “reasonable” in view of the promises made by QLED technology. Indeed, the 55-inch version is displayed at 2399 dollars, as for the 65-inch version, it climbs to 3000 dollars.
