Golfers Sami Välimäki and Tapio Pulkanen began their competition at the Olympics on Thursday.
Välimäki completed the first round with a score of four under par. That’s why he is tied for sixth place.
Välimäki’s best result was -6. At the very end of the round, his result was two bogeys.
The Finn was satisfied with his first day at the second Olympics of his career.
– Good day, I played well all the time. Of course, there were a couple of bad openings at the end, and they didn’t have any luck. Always had to take a break, Välimäki told Urheilu.
Tapio Pulkkanen, playing in the first Olympics of his career, is tied for 21st place after the first round. His score on Thursday was two under par.
– I am satisfied with the start. I got a couple of birdies at the end, so I’m especially happy with the ending, Pulkkanen told Urheilu.
Due to the threat of thunder, the competition had to be stopped twice on Thursday.
– Breaks easily affect the game. The last two holes were tough, but I got good pars on them.
The second round of the competition will be played on Friday, August 2.
