Sami Valimaki opened The Open with a score of two

After the opening day, the Finnish golfer shares the 42nd place in the British Open golf tournament.

Sami Välimäki, 26, is tied for 42nd in the British Open golf tournament, or The Open. The Finn’s result is +2.

Välimäki is leading the race in Ireland Shane Lowry seven strokes behind.

Välimäki was at par on the first three holes until the game started to slow down. There was a double bogey at Vitos hole.

The Finn improved his positions on the 12th and 15th holes with birdies. On the 14th hole, the scorecard was marred by a bogey.

Välimäki is taking part in that competition for the second time.

The Open is the oldest and most prestigious of golf’s four majors.

In the opening round, the weather was rainy and windy, as is usual during the Open.

The 37-year-old Lowry, who leads the competition, made a score of five under par on Thursday. The big name of the sport from Northern Ireland Rory Mcllroy shares 30th place with a score of +7.

A total of 17 million dollars, or almost 16 million euros, is being distributed in the competition.

The traditional tournament will be played this year at Royal Troon, Scotland. The tournament was last played at Troon in 2016. The Open ends on Sunday.
