Finnish golfer Sami Välimäki has finished second in golf’s inaugural men’s European Tour event in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Välimäki played consistently strong in Johannesburg and ended up with a total score of -18. He started the final round in second place and kept his ranking after playing the round with a result of -2.

The 24-year-old from Nokia hit four birdies and two bogeys in the round. However, the bogey hit on the last hole did not affect Välimäki’s final ranking, as the closest challengers still remained a stroke away.

The surprise winner of the competition is England Dan Bradbury hit a total of –21. The win is the 23-year-old Bradbury’s first on the European Tour. The competition was only his third as a professional player.

Second place is Välimäki’s second career European tour. In his debut season in 2020, Välimäki also won one European Tour race.

Välimäki’s last two seasons after the European tour debut have been more difficult. In the 2021 season, he never reached the top ten. Last season (2022) he was fourth once.
