Sami items are valued in a new live program

In SVT Minoritet’s new venture – Mu árvvolaš diŋggat/My beautiful Sami things – Sami handicrafts and objects catch the eye.

Is it a Sami version of the program Antikrundan? Not really, but it doesn’t get any closer than that, says Ole-Isak, who is involved in producing the program. Sami handicrafts and objects carry a greater value than a financial one, he notes.

– There is a lot of emotion attached to these objects. Family, history and solid work behind these beautiful objects – it’s not always possible to put a price tag on it, he says.

Anyone can submit a picture of an object and craft via SVT’s Duo app. Later, the three experts in soft and hard work will handpick the objects to value and tell about its history. The app will be able to be used both before and during the broadcast of the program.
