Sam Hallam is the new national team captain for Tre Kronor.
And with that, the wallet gets fatter.
– I earn more now, he says in the podcast Släpp Sargen.
When it became clear that Johan Garpenlöv was leaving his position as national team captain for Tre Kronor, speculation began immediately about who would succeed him. Many wanted to see Sam Hallam, who has done so well in Växjö for so many years, and that is exactly what happened.
The words about the new salary
Hallam has been with the Lakers for almost 10 years and during that time has turned the club into a top club to be reckoned with. Over the years, he has been hailed as SHL’s perhaps best coach, and now he gets the chance as the national team captain in one of Swedish hockey’s most powerful assignments.
And with that comes a fatter wallet. Sam Hallam is a guest in the latest episode of the hockey podcast Släpp Sargen, and then reveals that it was a salary increase for him.
– I earn more now than I did in Växjö, but I also had a good time in Växjö. That’s right, you get to a certain level, in any industry, you are at the top level. If you manage to stay for a while, then the compensation increases, he says.
“A form of risk supplement…”
At the same time, Hallam believes that it is a more risky assignment, where the fall height is higher.
– But there will be a second part of it. You are expected to be available, you are expected to be responsible for the results, especially when it is not good. So it is a form of risk supplement in that as well, he says.
Sam Hallam is now taking over a Tre Kronor that has not delivered at all according to expectations in recent championships. The Olympics became heavy, and the hockey World Cup this May ended with a draw already in the quarterfinals, against Canada, after in the group stage they lost a party situation to get a favorable final game.
