Sam Hallam leaves Tre Kronor and is replaced by Magnus Hävelid

On Friday, Beijer Hockey Games begins in newly renovated Avicii Arena.
On the other hand, it is not regular union captain Sam Hallam who will lead Tre Kronor in the tournament. He is replaced by the Junior Crowns Magnus Hävelid and his team.
– Personally, I’m a little jealous of them, Hallam tells Dagens Nyheter.

Sweden takes on Finland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland in the four -team tournament at home in an Avicii Arena that was rebuilt and refreshed. It will be the first time that hockey has been played in the arena again since the renovation began in January 2024. Sweden is involved in arranging the hockey World Cup in May, so there will be national team hockey there as well.

Sam Hallam gets a substitute

For the sake of unusualness it is not the federal captain Sam Hallam Which will give the Three Kronor players directives under Beijer Hockey Games. He leaves his team to go to Canada instead, where the preparations for Four Nations are really initiated. The night against February 13 (Swedish time) begins the acclaimed four-team tournament where Tre Kronor meets the United States, Canada and Finland-with only NHL professionals on the ice.

During the home tour this weekend it is the junior crowns’ federation captain Magnus Hävelid – Who led them during JVM – which will act as a substitute.
– I think it is great fun for Magnus and his staff that they get this, but personally I am a little jealous of them. I think “Beijer” is one of the highlights of the year. During the two years I have been with, it has been a fantastic support. But of course I think it will be a lot of fun with Four Nations, and is very much looking forward to it, says Sam Hallam to Dagens Nyheter.

Hallam has taken out the national team squad

Hälelid thus gets the confidence to lead Tre Kronor, but it is not he who has taken out the squad. So did Hallam and his team. The reason is that Magnus Hävelid and his entourage have had so much focus on JVM, so they have not been able to do the necessary background job.

Hallam is also not happy with how the national team played during the season’s previous tournaments, so he wanted to decide for himself which players would be into the squad.
– With a good autumn it could have been quite easy to hand over it, but now we have not performed and delivered at the level we want. I will also attend the first meeting and talk about what we have seen so far this season, and what we want to see this week. After that, Magnus is completely freely controlling the match of the team, he says.
– It should be both fun and stimulating, says Hävelid about being the national team for a weekend.

It will be exciting to see Tre Kronor in Beijer Hockey Games – and even later in Four Nations and the World Cup. What a hockey spring it will be!
