The streaming platform which brought together the programs of TF1, M6 and France Television should soon close. It is no longer possible to take out a subscription.
“It is unfortunately no longer possible to subscribe to Salto”, can we read on the site of the platform of streaming since Monday. A message that validates the upcoming end of the video on demand platform. It is however possible for subscribers to continue to watch the programs available on the site. Nevertheless, Le Parisien tells us that formal announcements on the future of Salto could be made by Wednesday evening. Salto’s future had been compromised since the merger agreement between TF1 and M6 was definitively buried. For its part, France Television had included on the agenda of its social and economic committee of January 20 the dissolution and the cessation of the activities of the platform. In addition, the French streaming site suffered considerably from competition from other American platforms available on the market, such as Netflix, Disney + or even Prime Video. At the end of 2022, 800,000 people subscribed to the streaming platform, a figure considered insufficient by observers.
All about Salto
Salto offered three different subscriptions, with a different price range. Note that these three subscription offers benefit from a free trial month. With each of these offers, subscribers have access to the entire catalog as well as the content of the television channels live and in streaming. High-definition is accessible to all subscribers, who can watch Salto films and series on their connected TV, computer, mobile or tablet. Here are the different Salto subscription offers:
- The offer sololimited to a single simultaneous user: its price is €6.99/month.
- The offer duowhich allows two users to view content from the streaming platform at the same time, costs €9.99/month.
- The offer tribe allows to have 4 simultaneous screens: its price is €12.99/month.
Like other streaming platforms, Salto offered a free trial period to these subscribers. This extended over a month, cancellable at any time during this period. However, you must subscribe to a subscription offer (solo, duo or tribe) before you can benefit from this free month and therefore enter your bank debit information beforehand. If you cancel your subscription before the end of the one-month trial period, however, you will not be charged. Note that the subscription can be canceled at any time.
Salto’s catalog includes movies and series, but also content from different TV channels.
