The lead of Eveliina Salonen and American Holyn Handley narrowed in the fourth round. Frisbeegolf’s World Championship gold will be decided in Sunday’s final round.
Eveliina Salonen gets from second place to pursue Finland’s first Frisbee golf World Cup gold in Lynchburg, Virginia on Sunday.
A four-under par in the fourth round was Salonen’s (-19) low of the week, and his American partner Holly’s Handley (-20) took the lead alone.
The seven-throw lead of the top two was narrowed when positions 3-5 Kat Mertsch (-15), Natalie Ryan (-12) and Kristin Buckwheat (-11) recorded the best results on Saturday.
Heidi Laine (-3), Henna Blomroos (-1) and Silva Saarinen (+2) can be found in consecutive positions 8-10. Saarinen has played three quality rounds, but Thursday’s +9 crushed his medal dreams.
Sonja Laine (+33) final ranking is divided 56th. According to Frisbeegolfmedia 42 women can participate in the fifth, i.e. final round.
Jenni Karppinen stopped and didn’t go to the track again on Saturday.
Finland has so far collected two medals in the history of the Frisbeegolf World Cup. There is one silver in both Salonen’s and Blomroos’ trophy cabinets.
