Salary and working hours Battle issues for this year’s carrying season: “Special industry”

The scandal -ridden berry industry where thousands of Thais over the years have come to Sweden to try to make money, change for this year’s season.

The pickers should now union the Food Workers’ Union, instead of as a former Municipal. Working hours and compensation are the focus of the new union.

– The most important issues are, above all, if you are to get paid for the time you work. It is an important issue. And another important question is: When do you start getting paid? Because you live in accommodation and sometimes you go quite long distances, says Andreas Marklund, ombudsman.

Special industry

At Livs you are now working to get into their new assignment, which has not proven to be easy.

– It is a little special industry to get into. Since there are moving workplaces and there has not really been an agreement that they have followed in such a way as they will do this summer. Before, it was with a staffing agreement basically versus now that it follows an industry agreement.

Prior to this year’s carrying season, the Migration Board has so far received approximately 2,200 applications for carrier pickers. All applications now apply to seasonal work, not as before for work permits.
The handling of these cases is still ongoing and no decisions have been made yet.
