Valtteri Bottas is running out of a team place in next year’s Formula 1 World Championship, says the German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport. According to the newspaper, a Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto is becoming a race driver for the Sauber team.
According to the German newspaper, Sauber and Bortoleto have already reached an agreement, but the team did not want to announce the agreement in the middle of the ongoing Brazilian GP weekend.
20-year-old Bortoleto is McLaren’s driving talent. He is at the top of the points standings in the Formula 2 series with two races left in the series.
German Nico Hulkenberg has already been confirmed as Sauber’s driver for the coming year.
Bottas has not scored a single World Championship point this season. The discussion about the future of Finns has been heated for several months.
– I don’t want it to be a headline that I’m frustrated. It’s a hard word, but it’s this difficult, Bottas described his mood in October.
