SaiPa might have been the most praised team in the ice hockey league in September, but October started in Lappeenranta’s Kisapuisto with just as dreary readings as the thermometer readings outside on Thursday tell.

Rauma’s Luko had no major problems to claim the full point pot with a 4-1 away win. Over the past five seasons, SaiPa has only won two home games against Lukko, after the team from Rauma won nine times.

During the first minutes of the second period, the visitors took a two-goal lead, 3-1 ex-Saipani by Antoine Morand with the opening hit of the season and the first goal of his league career, born in Espoo Lenni Hämäläinen with success. Also hit empty at the end Ponthus Westerholm opened his goal account. Lukko, who continues his guest tour to Kouvolaa, could save his strength for the match against KooKoo in the final set.

– SaiPa has played well, so this was a tough game. A nice win was taken. Our mokkout coach has said that up close, but then I put in from the sticks (between the legs), laughed Hämäläinen, who moved to Rauma from HIFK’s U18 juniors when he was only 16 in 2019.

SaiPa also lost its first match of October on Tuesday as a guest of Kiekko-Espoo. However, the Lappeenranta team’s season has started decently, and the team is 12th in the league. The win moved Luko to fourth in the standings.
