“We had hoped that the owners of the company would file for bankruptcy because then this would have been pronounced on Tuesday,” say Edwin Meijer of the CNV trade union and Jasper de Jong of the FNV trade union. “If that had happened, the drivers could have enlisted the help of the UWV. But they only pay out when the bankruptcy is officially pronounced. We have now made a step-by-step plan for the drivers with which they will hopefully be able to apply for an advance payment from the UWV. That would help them a lot, because they have no income now.”
