Saddam Hussein’s daughter is sentenced to prison after interview

Raghad Hussein has been sentenced to seven years in prison after speaking highly of the banned Baath Party, writes the Norwegian news agency NTB.

The party was banned and disbanded in 2003 when the US invaded Iraq and anyone who expresses himself positively about Baath in any way risks imprisonment.

According to TT, the sentence must apply to a statement in a televised interview on the Saudi Arabian television station Al Arabiya. The interview took place in 2021.

– Many have told me that our time was fantastic and that the country was then stable and rich, she said, among other things, in the interview.

Raghad Hussein lives today in Jordan with his sister.
