According to The Verge, Apple will not produce the Apple Silicon version of the 27-inch iMac instead of the Intel-equipped model that it stopped producing in 2022. Instead, the company is said to be focusing its iMac lineup on the 24-inch model, which was first released in early 2021 and updated with the new M3 processor this fall.
APPLE’S PR REP CONFIRMED THE PLANS
The Verge said Apple PR representative Starlayne Meza confirmed the company’s plans to them.
The company is said to be encouraging those holding out hope for a larger iMac to instead consider the Studio Display and Mac Studio or Mac Mini, which pairs a 27-inch 5K display with a separate PC.
The 27-inch iMac was Apple’s flagship consumer desktop for many years and has found its way into the studios and editing departments of many media companies.
The Verge reports that because Apple never released a version of the 27-inch iMac with its own Apple Silicon processors, many video editors, developers, and other creators are switching to other devices like the Mac Studio and MacBook Pro, or to more modular desktops. He stated that he did it.
