Saarikko’s comment to EPN comes after Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) defended herself at a press conference on Friday, after a video from the Prime Minister’s party last weekend was leaked. Marin’s judgment and her ability to act in a possible crisis situation have been questioned.
“It has happened during the spring at short notice that people have been called in, especially when it comes to foreign policy events,” says Saarikko to EPN’s morning program “Ykkösaamu”.
However, Saarikko says she has received the assurances she needs from the prime minister.
Marin herself claimed at the press conference that she is always informed about crises in advance. She has also taken a drug test, as demands for this have been raised both from coalition parties and from the opposition.
At the same time, KD’s chairman Sari Essayah wants Sanna Marin to formally inform the Riksdag about how she handles the prime ministerial assignment. Essayah wants an answer to whether the Prime Minister, in connection with the party, endangered partly the country’s security, partly his own.
It is not the first time that the Finnish prime minister’s partying has led to her falling into bad weather. Last winter, she received criticism for partying after sitting in a long meeting with the foreign minister, who was infected with covid.
