The Social Democrats want Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) to come to the social insurance committee. She should find out what the Swedish line is in the negotiations on a migration pact in the EU after protests from the Sweden Democrats.
SD has argued openly with the government since the EU parliament, including the moderate members, voted yes to the parliament’s proposal.
– The reasonable thing is that the Riksdag can establish what is the Riksdag’s line and how SD relates to it, Ygeman tells TT.
– We will have to find out if what appears to have been the government’s line so far has support or if it is what SD claims in the media, says Ygeman, referring to SD hinting that cooperation with the government may be in danger if the government votes yes to the pact.
Maria Malmer Stenergard has tried to add fuel to the waves by saying that the government will not say yes to the pact unless it means “a reduced inflow to Sweden.”
Ygeman assumes that there will be a compromise between the EU countries and the parliament, the parliament’s line will not stand. But an EU pact is needed.
– If you have common borders, it also requires that you have a common migration policy, otherwise some countries risk having to take on far too much responsibility, says Ygeman.
