Minister of Finance Mikael Damberg (S) warns that the record-high inflation risks cutting out government subsidies, which are used, among other things, to finance schools and care for the elderly. Now Damberg wants to make increased state subsidies an election issue – but the opposition believes that a possible increase is part of the usual budget work.
– The costs of producing school, health care and elderly care increase with inflation. This means that government subsidies that are not inflation-protected must also be an important election issue, says Damberg.
