Riksdag member Jamal El-Haj (S) is called to a meeting with the party’s group leadership in the Riksdag, Aftonbladet reports. This after he was caught in a picture with a designated Hamas leader.
The Social Democrats, the Left Party and the Green Party planned to participate in the European Palestinian Conference in Malmö last Saturday. But the parties withdrew when it was discovered that the chairman of the event, Amin Abu Rashid, had been singled out as the leader of Hamas, labeled a terrorist organization by the EU.
“The Social Democrats are not participating in the conference and we have also advised representatives not to participate,” the party writes in an email to Aftonbladet.
“It is worrying that he chose to attend the conference despite the party’s advice. The group leadership in the Riksdag will summon Jamal El-Haj to discuss what happened.”
