He revealed this in the Spirited interview with Today :
Before The Masked Singer arrived in the US, [gab es die Show nur in] South Korea. I said: “We absolutely have to participate!” I was the first westerner on the show so my revelation came as a big surprise. But the crazy thing is, it was hell. I just thought: “Why am I doing this? I don’t even know the song.” It was traumatic.

South Korea is the country of origin of The Masked Singer format, which is called King of Mask Singer there. The singing qualities are judged by a jury.
