“Russia’s advance has been stopped” and the situation is “much better” on the front, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared on Monday March 11, contradicting many recent assessments of the Russian military campaign in Ukraine.
“I can give you the latest information: the situation is much better than during the last three months,” he assured, in an interview with BFMTV and the daily newspaper The world. The Russian advance “continued in the east of the country, today our command, our soldiers have stopped it”, he said.
“As long as Ukraine holds, the French army can remain on French territory”
“You should know that when we talk about fortifications it is a constant process, we are not talking about kilometers or not hundreds of kilometers but more than 1,000 kilometers of construction. It is therefore about “a very complex task”, also assured the Ukrainian president, according to translated remarks, mentioning “three lines of defense” already “built” against Russian forces, in the East, South and North of Ukraine .
While Emmanuel Macron affirmed that the future sending of Western troops to Ukraine should not “be excluded”, Volodymyr Zelensky declared that “as long as Ukraine holds, the French army can remain on the territory French”, pleading however for the sending of “technical personnel” for “the co-production” of Caesar cannons and “training”. “Your children are not going to die in Ukraine,” continued the Ukrainian president.
