New Russian strikes in the night
Despite the acceleration of efforts to bring the views of the belligerents closer to the means of reaching a cease-fire, the fighting continues with deadly strikes in Ukraine and Russia. The Ukrainian authorities reported on the night of Sunday to Monday of strikes affecting the regions of kyiv, Kharkiv (East) and Zaporijia (east), making several injured, in the aftermath of deadly bombing on the capital.

Russia and the United States meet this Monday in Saudi Arabia for negotiations, qualified immediately as “difficult” by the Kremlin. Objective: to establish a partial truce in Ukraine after more than three years of Russian offensive. US President Donald Trump, whose rapprochement with Vladimir Putin, has rebuilt conflict maps, says he wants to end hostilities and dispatched his emissaries to Ryad for talks with both parties.
Washington and kyiv push for, at least, a provisional stop of strikes on energy sites, largely damaged on the Ukrainian side. Ukraine says he is “ready” to a “general” and without conditions. But Vladimir Putin, whose army is advancing on the ground despite heavy losses, seems to play the watch, as long as his men did not expel the Ukrainian troops from the Russian border region of Koursk. On Sunday, the spokesperson for the Kremlin Dmitri Peskov said that “the main” subject of discussion with the Americans would be “the resumption” of the application of the cereal agreement in the Black Sea, failing to mention a possible commitment concerning the suspension of the fighting, limited or without conditions.

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky called for “pushing” his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to end the invasion in progress for more than three years in Ukraine on Sunday. A Ukrainian delegation, for its part, met American envoys to Ryad in the evening. Discussions with a view to a partial break in the war between Ukraine and Russia were “productive,” said Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. “We finished our meeting with the American team. The discussion was productive and targeted. We approached key points, especially energy,” he said, adding that Ukraine was trying to make its objective of a “just and lasting peace.”
