Russian robot destroyed the “Harry Potter castle” in Odessa

The damage to the castle is extensive and the post-extinguishing work is difficult, says the Ukrainian rescue service to the public service television company UABC.

The building, known by Odessa residents as the “Harry Potter castle” and “Kivalov’s castle”, belongs to the university’s law faculty and is also home to the head of the department, the former member of parliament Serhiy Kivalov.

  • Cluster munitions are used against civilian Ukrainian targets

According to the Ukrainian defense, parts of a robot remain in the upper floor of the castle and the first information indicates that it was an Iskander robot that was used in the attack.

The information is not confirmed by independent sources. The Journalist Network Bellingcat has previously shown how civilian Ukrainian targets were attacked by a version of the robot equipped with a warhead that spreads small warheads over a large area.

Unexploded ammunition may remain at the castle and the rescue service therefore wears military protective vests.

    – We continue our work, but it is dangerous, says Maryna Averina, spokesperson for the emergency services in the Odessa region.
