An oil refinery in the city of Rostov-na-Donu in southwestern Russia caught fire after a Ukrainian drone attack early Thursday morning.

“A fire broke out in the Novoshachtinsk refinery after a drone attack,” writes the region’s governor Vasiliy Golubev on Telegram.

“Work was paused due to repeated attacks and personnel were evacuated to a safe distance.”

No one is reported to have been injured in the attack. The Novoshachtinsk refinery, located about ten kilometers from the Russian border, is considered one of the most important in southern Russia.

Another drone strike destroyed an oil tank at a depot in Stary Oskol, just north of the Ukrainian border. Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, said the fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

Ukraine has regularly attacked Russian energy facilities since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
