Russia has launched a major campaign to recruit volunteers for the war, writes the US-based think tank ISW in a report. Recruitment began in June, but has intensified in July.
The volunteers do not need to have any military experience and only receive 30 days of training before being sent to battle.
The increase risks becoming an expensive deal for Russia, ISW believes, as the soldiers will not be ready for battle.
