Russian media urged to remove content related to Alexei Navalny

No trace of the Navalny Foundation, its investigations or its staff should remain. While the imprisoned opponent unsuccessfully challenged in court his classification as “extremist and terrorist”, several Russian media reported on Tuesday February 1 that they had deleted, at the request of the authorities, articles relaying anti-corruption investigations by opponent Alexei Navalny.

Ten minutes is the time for reflection that the judge took to render his decision: Alexeï Navalny remains a detainee placed on the infamous list of terrorists and extremistsas well as members of the Islamic State organization and the Taliban, banned in Russia. Without illusions about the decision, the anti-corruption activist had made a very harsh speech in court.

Obviously, this decision was taken in Moscow. We simply said: “Well, since he is against us, let’s call him a terrorist”. I have demonstrated that in power there are thieves, and I have confirmed this on several occasions. Calling me a terrorist, anyone understands that’s fiction and nonsense exclaimed Alexei Navalny.

Navalny’s investigations banned from publication

All investigations by Navalny’s team are now banned from publication in Russia. At least nine media, many of which are independent and classified foreign agents announced on Tuesday that they had received and applied the instruction to delete dozens of Russian-language content.

Articles that echoed investigations targeting senior Kremlin officials, including what was presented as the “Palace” of Vladimir Putin on the shores of the Black Sea. The video on YouTube had garnered over 121 million views. It is now almost inaccessible.
