President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko asked his ally the Russian president on Friday Vladimir Putin to supply the country with a new medium-range Oreshnik missile system.
Russian news agencies report on the matter.
Putin said Russia could deliver the Oreshnik system to Belarus in the latter half of 2025. He added that Minsk itself is allowed to determine the targets of the missiles placed on its territory.
Russia fired an experimental Oreshnik hypersonic missile into Ukraine last month. Putin called the incident a test of the weapon under combat conditions.
Russia has announced that it will begin serial production of a new missile system.
