On Wednesday, ten people died after a plane crash outside the Russian capital Moscow. Information quickly arrived that the leader of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was on board, along with several top figures in the paramilitary group.
An investigation was started by Russian authorities, among other things to carry out genetic examinations. On Sunday, the investigative committee announced that Prigozhin was among the dead.
This is written by the AFP news agency.
“According to their findings, the identities of all ten victims were established, and they match the list provided in the passenger list,” the committee said in a statement.
TV4 Nyhetern’s foreign correspondent Jona Källgren says that the information from the Russian investigation can be seen as quite reliable.
– There has been a lot of speculation in recent days as to whether he is really dead or whether he is in another location, but this can be taken as fairly reliable anyway. Then, of course, you never know what happens in Russia and what you can trust, he says.
He also believes that the investigation has been made public quickly because of the speculation.
