Star player of the Russian national football team Artyom Juba has declined an invitation to the national team camp. The head coach told about Juba’s decision Valeri Karpin on tuesday.

– He asked not to be invited to the national team now due to his family reasons, Karpin announced on the website of the Russian Federation.

– I talked to Artyom on the phone on Sunday. He assured that he would really like to play for the national team, but at the same time hoped for release due to his difficult family situation. He has many relatives in Ukraine.

Russia was scheduled to face Poland in the World Cup qualifiers, but the country has been excluded from international football due to the war in Ukraine. However, Russia has taken the matter to the International Court of Appeal for Sport (CAS).

With these prospects, thanks to the Russian lock, Poland will have direct access to the qualifying game to be played on March 29.

In any case, Karpin brings together the national team players, but without Dzjuba.

– We reached an agreement to keep in touch with each other. We will continue to watch his game performances, Karpin continued.

Dzjuba only opposes Russian oppression

Juba was talking about the war in Ukraine shortly after the Russian invasion. He was then criticized for not taking a clear position on Russia’s hostilities.

– So far, I have not wanted to talk about what is happening in Ukraine, because I am not a political expert, Dzhuba said on Instagram.

However, he said he was opposed to sanctions against Russian sports.

– I am opposed to unequal treatment of people based on nationality. I’m not ashamed to be Russian, because I’m proud of it.
