The Russian court ruled against the Russian-American journalist Alsu Kurmasheva on Monday to six and a half years in prison.

According to the court, Kurmasheva spread false information about the Russian army.

Kurmasheva was arrested in June in Kazan when she visited her mother. She is a mother of two children and lives in Prague.

The head of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty commented on the verdict to the AP, saying it was a “mockery of justice”.
