President Vladimir Putin according to which Russia will stop exporting oil, gas and coal to countries that introduce price ceilings for Russian energy.
Putin told about it in his speech at the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok on Wednesday.
The Russian president described possible price caps as “a very stupid idea”.
The G7 group of industrialized countries announced their plan to set a price ceiling for Russian oil last week. The president of the EU Commission is also involved in the price ceiling for Russian gas Ursula von der Leyen with the list of measures presented on Wednesday, with which the EU aims to curb the rise in the price of electricity.
In his speech, the Russian president warned that the action would lead to a cold winter in Western countries. For its part, on the stage of the war started by Russia in Ukraine, Russia continues to fight to achieve its goals, Putin stated, according to news agencies.
The war started by Russia has pushed Europe into an energy crisis. The EU has accused Russia of using energy as a weapon. Russia has previously demanded, among other things, that gas be paid in rubles.
Nord Stream 1 and sanctions on display again
In his speech, Putin repeated Russia’s claim that Western countries are responsible for the situation in the gas pipeline Nord Stream 1. Russia suspended gas supplies in the pipeline during the phase of the moon. According to Putin, gas could flow in the Nord Stream 1 pipeline as early as tomorrow, if the necessary turbine had not been stuck in Western sanctions.
Before Russia’s new military actions in Ukraine, an estimated third of the gas used on the continent flowed through the pipeline to Europe.
The EU has imposed sanctions on Russia since 2014, when Russia began occupying parts of Ukraine. In addition, the EU has imposed more sanctions against Russia after Russia started its large-scale war of aggression against Ukraine in February.
According to Putin, isolating Russia is impossible in the current situation. He stated that the country sees opportunities in the markets of the Middle East and China, for example.
Putin acknowledged that the sanctions have caused difficulties for some Russian regions and industries. However, according to him, the blade of the sanctions has already been dulled.
