Zakharova made a statement regarding Russia’s decision to revoke the accreditation of six British diplomats on suspicion of espionage and posing a threat to the country’s security. Spokesperson Zakharova recalled that the UK had taken “hostile” steps towards Russia, and that in May it had decided to unilaterally limit the accreditation period of some Russian diplomats, and that Russia had responded to this.
“WE WILL CONTINUE TO REACT HARDLY AND MEASUREDLY”
Zakharova stressed that they will not tolerate the activities of unreported British intelligence officers on Russian soil, and added: “We are taking an uncompromising approach to this issue in line with national security. We will continue to respond to London’s hostile actions in a tough and measured manner. We call on the UK to abandon its unconstructive and harmful approach towards Russia.”
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced that the accreditation of six British diplomats has been revoked on suspicion of espionage and posing a threat to the country’s security.
