Sunday November 26 is Mother’s Day in Russia. And like last year, the subject of soldiers’ mothers comes back like a big grain of sand in the power machine. Last year, Vladimir Putin received some of them to show that he heard their concerns. Not those who contested the war, but those who demanded better conditions for fighting. This year, it is on keeping men at the front that the protests are focused.
